Howler Home                                    

Artist: Gretchen Kirstel   Medium: Oil on Canvas   Size: 25"X30             Date: 2009                      One of Gretchen's masterpieces, Howler Home, is one of her greatest original works of art.  Inspired by a photo taken on a zip line in Costa Rica,  Gretchen was intrigued by the way the Howler monkey was surrounded by light from the sun shinning through the deep jungle.  The contrast of bright rose hues blanketing the flora around the monkey with the deep forest greens created a spiritual scene in the eyes of the artist.  Details crafted with the expert brush spread a stained glass effect over the painting.
