Costume Portrait Style
by Gretchen Kirstel
Isn't she beautiful? This absolutely lovely painting was done in the finest of oils on a large canvas. Much time was spent with the delicate features of the face, the lovely shapes in her native costume, and the swirling background that surrounds her. Attention is drawn to the little feet, turned in, ever so slightly, which reveal her modesty. Chubby cheeks are surrounded by soft curls in her hair and little delicate flowers. Anyone, that has a heredity that they cherish, can appreciate a portrait done in their native costume. Gretchen delights in painting details that add to the embellishment of the costume's beauty. This painting was done on a canvas measuring 24" X 48", and was painted in 2008. If you wish to have a portrait done in this style, please email Gretchen on the "Email Gretchen" tab.
